Sustainability

What is the blue economy?

The blue economy is the economic activity of the maritime sector (coastal tourism, maritime transport, fishing, …). Sustainability and the sea are its base, and it recognizes the importance of the seas and oceans as drivers of the economy for its great potential for innovation and growth. If the global blue economy was a country, it would be the seventh largest economy in the world.

The blue economy covers seven sectors: Living marine resources, Non-living marine resources, Renewable marine energy, Port activities, Shipbuilding and repair, Maritime transport and Coastal tourism. It also acknowledges that the alliance between cities and ports is key, that the nautical sector should be leveraged for the blue economy, and that ports should act as nerve centres.

The role of Moll House

Moll House is in an unbeatable position to contribute to the blue economy. Why?

  • Costa Brava – there is no better place to promote the blue economy: all the different sectors are present.

  • Tourism – is the sector of Moll House, and is key to the growth and development of the blue economy and the country.

  • Innovation – Catalonia is a leading region in terms of innovation.

Moll House collaborates with local companies and NGOs to sustainably promote the region and improve the coastal territory of the Costa Brava. At all of our properties, customers will find an information leaflet and activity recommendations for local businesses.
